Seaver Autism Center
The Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai conducts research studies and provides care to children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), including Asperger's Disorder and PDD NOS.
==History==
The Seaver Autism Center was founded in 1993 by a grant to Mount Sinai Medical Center from the Beatrice and Samuel A. Seaver Foundation. In 2003, the Seaver Center was named a Center of Excellence by the National Institutes of Health and awarded a grant as part of the Studies to Advance Autism Research and Treatment (STAART) Centers Program initiative. Three grants were awarded to the Seaver Center in 2009 from the National Institutes of Health to study the genetics and treatment of autism as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Seaver Autism Center is part of two Autism Center of Excellence (ACE) network grants, awarded by the National Institutes of Health in 2012.
